As I thought of "Earth", I also thought of earth (as it is felt on the ground with the hands, with the feet). And I thought of time, touch, and erosion.
So here is my "Earth" album, which is not made of earth at all. I began with recordings of the wind, here in the valley, with the microphone gain turned all or nearly all the way up so the mic would blow out, crackle and pop.
These recordings were then layered and played through a few delay pedals. I've always loved the feedback on delay pedals. The feedback is a thickener, which allowed the wind to swell and erode. Touch sustained over an extended period of time.
Track 4 is a bit of a fluke. I was finishing playing the other tracks through the pedals and accidentally pressed the volume control on the computer and it chimed. It sounded so nice through the effects, so I decided to "play" it. Ive included it here because it wouldn't have happened without the other three tracks and as such, has no other home.
